zanu-pf supporters demonstrate against Goromonzi South MP and Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Cde Petronella Kagonye in Goromonzi yesterday

Goromonzi South Constituency District chairpersons and the electorate yesterday demonstrated against their National Assembly Member Cde Petronella Kagonye, accusing her of fanning factionalism and causing divisions in Mashonaland East Province.

Cde Kagonye is the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development.

Speaking during the demonstrations at Ruwa Shopping Centre, Goromonzi South Border Gezi District secretary for legal affairs, Cde Last Tembedza, accused Cde Kagonye of working in cahoots with the MDC-T.

He questioned Cde Kagonye’s leadership credentials in the province which he said were deplorable.

“We would like to reiterate that as Goromozi South Constituency, we are 100 percent behind President Robert Mugabe as the sole candidate and the elevation of Dr Grace Mugabe to the position of National Secretary for Women’s Affairs in our party.

“We, the undersigned and electorate present a vote of no confidence on our Member of Parliament Cde Petronella Kagonye.

“We feel she is being used by powers outside the revolutionary party to fan divisions and cause confusion within the party. She is less than two years in Zanu-PF activism and we request that she be investigated on how she managed to get into the House of Assembly,” he said.

Speaker after speaker slammed Cde Kagonye, accusing her of swindling over 9 000 stand beneficiaries.

“Cde Kagonye must go. She swindled four housing cooperatives of $25 000 by ordering a transfer of the money into her co-operative named Glorious Properties.

“After the money had been deposited she started playing hide and seek game with the cooperatives,” she said.

Cde Kagonye was also accused of serving the interests of the opposition by working in cahoots with an MDC-T member Mr Reason Mabhande.

“Cde Kagonye distributed seed maize under the Presidential Agricultural Input Scheme to her MDC-T allies through Mr Mabhande,” she said.

Cde Kagonye could not be reached for comment yesterday.
