AT least 90 individuals walked away with prizes worth US$175 000 yesterday during the prize giving ceremony of the Unilever Zimbabwe Vaseline Winter Warmer Promotion which ran from May 1 to July 31 this year.
The winners received various prizes ranging from cash prizes, generators, gas stoves, irons and electric kettles.
Mr Edmon Kavhumbura from Harare was the biggest winner of the day, as he walked away the first prize, a cash prize of  US$20 000 while the second prize winner Mrs Sekai  Sitirawo won US$10 000 and the third prize of US$5 000 went to Mr Fanuel Matsikinye.

Out of the 90 winners, six walked away with Kipor diesel generators while four won the four plate gas stoves.
Cash prizes of US$200 were given to 50 lucky winners including seven distribution sales representatives.

At least six winners walked away with halogen heaters while five others won steam irons and another five received silver electric kettles.
Unilever marketing director Mrs Juliet Ziswa said that they brought back the promotion to remind the customers of their iconic brand.
“We returned the biggest winter promotion of all time to tell the people that the Vaseline brand is still relevant. The Vaseline Winter Promotion carries a strong heritage in the mind of the Zimbabwean customer heralding the coming of winter but also being quick to highlight that with Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, do not fear for the moisturisation of your skin in the cold.

“Our country’s economy is building up and Unilever is part of that rebuilding exercise,” she said.
Speaking about how the promotion was run, Mrs Ziswa said they had easy entry mechanism where the shopper had to buy one unit of 100ml or two 250ml of Vaseline attach a till slip as proof of purchase and drop it off in the entry boxes which were provided in participating stores.
An elated Mr Kavhumbura told journalists that he has been using Vaseline from the day he was born.

“I have been using this brand since 1962. I intend to use the money to finish building my house in Waterfalls,” he said.
