Veteran judicial officer Mrs Faith Mushure has been appointed Acting Chief Magistrate, replacing Mr Munamato Mutevedzi, who is now a High Court judge.

Judicial Service Commission secretary Mr Walter Chikwana has confirmed the development.

“I can confirm that Mrs Mushure is now Acting Chief Magistrate. She replaces Justice Mutevedzi, who is now at the High Court. Mrs Mushure is an experienced magistrate who once worked in the Chief Magistrate’s office and we believe she will be able to hit the ground running,” said Mr Chikwanha.

Mrs Mushure worked as a magistrate from 2004 to 2013 before being moved to the chief magistrate’s office. At the Chief Magistrate’s office, she worked for four years.

In 2013, Mrs Mushure was appointed Registrar of the Labour Court, the post she held until February 2016.

She also worked as Registrar of High Court from February 2016 to March 2019. She once served as head of Policy and Legal Services in the JSC for a year before being elevated to the position of Deputy Secretary for the commission.
