ZANU-PF has stepped up its campaign for the July 31 harmonised elections with the introduction of smart phones and tablets with 3G and Android pre-loaded with the party’s jingles and other information. Dubbed the The Peoples Phone and The


Peoples Tablet the two gadgets are affordable.
The People’s Phone has a 4,0 inch HD screen, dual sim, 3,2 MP rear camera, 3G, GPS, WIFI, Bluetooth, micro SD card and Android 4.0 (Ice-cream Sandwich) while the 7,3 G People’s Tablet also has similar systems.

Micor Star business development director Mr Taurai Majoni said the company had been given authority by Zanu-PF to market the smart phones and tablets.

“Our aim is to create employment and empower the youths as well as to ensure that everyone in urban and rural areas have access to ICT’s,” said Mr Majoni.
Mr Majoni said the phones and tablets have become a hit and their stock had already sold out.

“We are currently out of stock, but we are expecting more by next week to be delivered at all Zanu-PF district and provincial offices.
“We cannot satisfy the demand,” he added.

The company, he said, the company expected to create at least 300 jobs and has plans to establish an assembly plant in Harare.
“We are also looking at putting the manifesto as well as other party information on the smart phones and tablets.

“We are also in the process of engaging university students to locally develop applications for our gadgets,” said Mr Majoni.
