CAPS United skipper Hardlife Zvirekwi says they should deliver on the pitch amid the excitement created by businessman Farai Jere’s takeover of the club.The Green Machine are in Bulawayo this weekend for Sunday’s clash against tricky newboys Tsholotsho Pirates.

The match has been moved to Barbourfields since Tsholotsho’s temporary home ground White City is booked for an athletics programme.

Makepekepe, who had a tough experience in the last five months, are now coming from the woods following the boardroom changes this week.

Zvirekwi told The Herald yesterday that it has been all smiles at training this week when he rejoined his teammates after taking returning from the COSAFA Cup tournament.

“The feeling is amazing; everyone is coming to training with smiling faces, but I think we need to guard against getting overly excited.

“We need to keep our focus in check and not get carried away. We have to be more focused than before for us to play well and get maximum points in the coming matches,” said Zvirekwi.

The 28-year-old utility player said the deal struck between Twine Phiri and Jere was welcomed by the players, who in turn promised to channel all their energies towards the success of the club.

All the players were given their salaries and the spirit was telling as they went through their paces at the RBZ Sports Club yesterday.

Morale had been low in the Green Machine camp because of the financial challenges they were facing and this had forced players like Rodreck Mutuma, Stephen Makatuka and Dominic Mukandi to turn their backs on the club.

The trio has since returned to training and it looks like the technical team will now have a headache with all the players now in the right frame of mind.

“It’s something good for the Makepekepe family as a whole. We have to take this transitional period with much care and caution.

“Everybody is happy with the situation now. We will have to channel every bit of energy that we have and all our focus to the pitch,” said Zvirekwi.

The Green Machine fought against the odds last week to come up 2-0 victors at Dongo Sawmill.

The Harare giants are looking to continue with that winning form when they take on another Premiership newcomer Tsholotsho.

“Tsholotsho are not that small considering their performances. We are going to give them their respect. But we will go out there with our guns blazing to get a win.

“I think the guys did a great job at Dongo last week. We would want to continue collecting maximum points to get back to where we are supposed to be,” said Zvirekwi.

Meanwhile, the Premier Soccer League have moved the potentially explosive clash between champions Dynamos and Triangle to the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The match was initially slated for Rufaro tomorrow, but the Harare giants asked for it to be moved to Sunday at the giant stadium.

The match now becomes a major counter-attraction to the Mighty Warriors’ Olympic qualifier against Swaziland at Rufaro on the same day.
