PREMIERSHIP newboys ZPC Kariba have made a flying start to their campaign but team manager Patson Ndabambi has warned his players not to get carried away.
Gwenya ReChamhembe, as ZPC Kariba are known to their fans, held CAPS United to a goalless draw in the first game at Gwanzura, beat champions Dynamos and then floored Harare City 1-0.
“I can attribute our fine start to the season to the work that has been done by the technical department,” said Ndabambi.
“I think people should realise that we have an experienced coach in Saul Chaminuka while the first assistant Godfrey Tamirepi is not a rookie either.

“The second assistant Oliver Matawa had been with the team for a long time while Kembo Chuma is a seasoned goalkeeper’s coach and I am also in the technical department.

“Our head coach had pointed out early that we did not get the best in terms of preparing for the season.
“This could be the reason why we are playing better in the second half after having read our opponents in the first half, but we are happy with the results so far.

“However, we are not looking too much ahead because we could lose focus. So far we have not set big targets but would want to win the next game.
“If by the end of the season we manage to win 27 matches, then the better for us but we are not putting pressure on ourselves by setting big targets.”

Before his appointment as team manager, Ndabambi once served as coach at ZPC Kariba when they were in Division One. “Our squad is made up of experienced players like Tawanda Nyamandwe, Tawanda Munyanduri, Obey Mwerahari and Norman Togara,” said Ndabambi.

“We also have players who are relatively young to give the squad a mixed look. “I do not think that we should remain content with what we have achieved so far. I am sure the best will come, especially if we are to play in Kariba.

“Our team is from Kariba and that’s where we have the 13th man. So are we happy to have achieved results in Harare but in Kariba everyone will be behind us.
“I also thank our executive for rallying behind us.”
