The Zimbabwe National Council of Young Men Christian Association will on November 8 hold a netball and soccer tournament at Rutendo Hall in Mufakose.
It will see four teams, two from each category clashing with the winners walking away with floating trophies and medals.
The thrust of the tournament is to have the organisation’s peer educators get time to address youths in that community on neglected health issues that concerns them.

These include drug addiction and alcoholism, Sexually Transmitted Infections, cancer, Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, stress and stress management. YMCA said they partnered with Zimbabwe Lifeline HIV/Aids Development Organisation who are also involved in youth programmes.

“We partnered with them so that our youths have the chance to interact and share ideas and find ways to curb the ills of the society.
“They will have the opportunity to discuss drug abuse and health problems that youths are facing,” a spokesperson said.

After Mufakose the programme will head to the University of Zimbabwe. The YHI programme is in full swing having visited areas like Mufakose, Glen Norah, and Chitungwiza to conduct Baseline Surveys to try and measure the attitudes of the youths concerning contagious diseases.

The organisation has five branches and 28 activity groups dotted around the country in pursuance of these programmes. – Lifestyle Writer.
