Zanu-PF has challenged its members to continue working towards building the party and to desist from furthering their own interests.

Speaking during an inter-district meeting in Murombedzi yesterday, Zanu-PF secretary for Administration Dr Ignatius Chombo said a team from Harare would soon visit Mashonaland West province to ensure that all the party’s documents were in order.

“The team from the administration department in Harare would also want to see whether party members are working for the party or not or that they are only furthering their own interests,” he said.

Dr Chombo said the team would also check on whether meetings that were being held in branches and cells were in line with the party’s constitution.

He urged party members to follow the party’s constitution.

“We have also heard that some of you are joining certain factions that you think will replace President Mugabe. Desist from such practices and as Zanu-PF, during our conference in 2014, we elected President Mugabe as our only candidate for the 2018 elections and he is still there as our candidate,” Dr Chombo said.

Dr Chombo warned councillors and party members who were distributing food in the area not to misinform the public that the food belonged to them.

He said President Mugabe recently assured the nation that no one would starve and that the food being distributed should be done in a fair manner.

Dr Chombo said during the meeting of provincial chairpersons with President Mugabe at State House, he urged youth to complete their education.

“One thing he said was that youths should go to school and complete their Ordinary Level so that they will be employed in the police force, army or other Government departments.

“He also urged the youths to appreciate manual work and continue working hard.”

The meeting was attended by Politburo members Cde Edna Madzongwe, Lands Minister Dr Douglas Mombeshora, Public Service Minister Cde Prisca Mupfumira, legislators Cdes Ziyambi Ziyambi and Francis Mkwangwariwa and Zifa president Dr Philip Chiyangwa.
