The Computer Society of Zimbabwe is set to host a Women in ICT conference in Harare next week.

The conference, which will be held on July 29, will run under the theme “ZIM ASSET: Emerging entrepreneurs series”.The society said that the theme was crafted in recognition that the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation identifies ICT as the enabler of all activities.

It also brings to the fore great opportunities that lie ahead for ICT professionals, opportunities that can only be harnessed if Zimbabweans become innovative and entrepreneurial

“Women are the vital cog, the golden goose that lays the golden egg that will take the nation forward.
“The Computer Society of Zimbabwe, through this function, seeks to bring up the girl child so that her capabilities are known to the wider audience.

“She has been working tirelessly in the back ground making sure the nation ticks. It is time we give her space to showcase her contributions.
“Together with the boy child they have the capacity to take the nation forward,” the society said in a statement.

A number of speakers have been lined up to address the conference. These include Miriam Chahuruva the ICT director at Harare Institute of Technology, Tsitsi Chiwanza and ICT professional with Pearl Properties, Rumbie Shoko the founding editor and recipe developer of ZimboKitchen and Moleen Mwanza from the National University of Science and Technology.
