NICHOLAS “Tico” Alifandika arrived at the National Sports Stadium yesterday hoping to be an instant hit and be part of a CAPS United side that would end a five-year wait to beat Dynamos in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.Alifandika gave CAPS United the width they wanted and kept the supply line open for Domini Chungwa and Hiney Chimutimunzeve but still a derby victory eluded Makepekepe. The diminutive winger felt his new side had given it their best shot in yesterday encounter and were “just unlucky to lose to Dynamos’’.

Alifandika who has previously played for Dynamos joined CAPS United from Black Mamba last week after turning out for Division One side Black Mambas.

Despite having a fine debut for CAPS United Alifandika left the National Stadium disappointed that his team had lost the game. “I am happy that I was part of the derby and it was a big game but we were just unlucky to win the match,” said Alifandika. “We created a lot of chances in the first half and we were supposed to have buried Dynamos during that time. We had an upper hand throughout the first half but we were just unlucky not to score.

“We will now focus in the next game so that we will pick up the points’’.

Alifandika said he was not under pressure playing against his former club but viewed the match “like any ordinary one.

“Playing against Dynamos did not come with any pressure as I used to play them while I was at Black Mambas. I wanted very much to score but that did not happen so I believe I will do well in the next matches,” Alifandika said.
