At least five visual artistes will unite for an exhibition at Futures Academy in Borrowdale on Sunday. Running under the theme ” Life as we Know it” the exhibition will see artistes like Wilson Zuze, Peter Kwangware, Waison Mupedza, Petros Kaseke and Alexio Kapondora showcasing their work. Organiser of the exhibition, Talent Madamombe said the exhibition will feature massive paintings on canvas and paper.

“We named this exhibition, ‘Life as we know it’, because we are convinced that life is subjective. Life is enjoyed in its simplicity, the natural beauty of nature and emotion. Life can be said to be hard and painful but life is also beautiful because without life there is no love,” she said.

Madamombe said through their artworks, the artists will use their talent to express how life can be defined and enjoyed.

She said their experience will bring the artistic career closer to the students and those who will attend the exhibition so that they have an appreciation of what the art industry is like and what it has to offer.

“Exposure to exhibitions will give light to the student on what art is all about. Let them appreciate how their current education is relevant and will feed into their careers.

‘‘It is my hope that this exhibition will just be the beginning as we look forward to make it an occasional event so as to encourage the emergence of a social network amongst people who share an interest in art in Zimbabwe,” she said.

Some of the paintings reflect the lives of polygamists, vendors, farmers and several things that constitutes life cycle of a human being.

Madamombe said they were looking forward to a great show that will enable the students and those in the local community to learn how artists address issues that affects the society.

“As artists we express our views through art and my hope is the people will enjoy this exhibition that has five artists,” she said.
