Dendera star Suluman Chimbetu is calling for peace in a new track titled “It’s Not Necessary” that will feature on his upcoming album to be released end of October. The musician emotionally played the song on Friday at Bar Rouge at Long Cheng Mall encouraging the people of Zimbabwe to maintain peace.Part of the lyrics denounces violence as well as burning and destroying structures in the capital.

“ . . . It’s not necessary to burn Harare it’s not necessary to throw stones on the roads . . . It’s not necessary.”

Music lovers who attended the show welcomed the track prompting the musician to play it more than twice.

Chimbetu’s call comes after activists besieged the capital on Friday afternoon burning tyres and looting shops.

His publicist Joe Nyamungoma said it is the role of every artist to preach peace in the society.

“Everyone knows what happened on Friday and it is up to us the artists to call for a peaceful nation. It is not for Sulu only but I feel every artist should take part,” he said.

Nyamungoma said it was important that musicians inspire people as they are role models in the society.

“Each and every artist is a role model and it is important for them to encourage people to be peaceful. This is not politics but any peaceful society brings development,” he said.

Nyamungoma said Sulu has done his ground work on the album that will usher fun loving people into 2017.

“We have been listening to all the albums released but our message to our fans is simple, we are now coming,” he added.

Other songs that were played at the show include “Arasa Mwana”.

“We are optimistic that the album will do justice.

“I am happy that our fans are satisfied with songs being played at live shows,” he said.
