THREE-TIME World women’s motocross champion Stefy Bau of Italy has described her two-week stay in Zimbabwe as a wonderful experience and revealed her determination to turn young Zimbabwean motorcycle rider Tanya Muzinda into a world-class athlete.Bau returned to her base in Florida, United States, on Monday night after spending the past two weeks working with Muzinda who she helped to take a credible second place finish behind Kuda Mhene (Junior) in the 65cc B Class in the four-day 2013 Zimbabwe Summer

Series which ended at Donnybrook in Harare on Sunday.

“Working with Tanya was amazing from the get go. She’s a quick learner and it was very nice for her to learn (from me) some basic techniques of motocross riding but she has to keep on working hard.

“We have now established a good relationship and it was not only about motocross but we also exchanged some cultural values,” Bau said.

She also said Muzinda has the potential of becoming a world-class athlete.

“When I got here to work with Tanya, she was not on top before so what I was able to teach her was the technique for her to be able to ride well and that she’s much safer on a motorcycle because motocross can be a dangerous sport but I wanted her to be safe and have fun at the same time.

“I was happy to see her getting better and better every single minute we were spending together at the track so the future plans are for her to be able to get to the United States and see what happens there, but the most important thing is that we’ve been able to set up a base which we hope to see getting better and better.

“In November we usually have a big international event in Florida and that’s the event she could use to launch her international career in the United States but she needs to come there when she is 100 percent ready because the competition there is far much stiffer than here in Zimbabwe or Africa,” Bau said.
