MANCHESTER. – Robin van Persie’s agent has played down speculation that the Holland striker is on the verge of leaving Manchester United.

Van Persie is back in Cheshire following his summer break and returned to training at Carrington with the rest of the United squad yesterday morning amid reports that he has agreed personal terms over a four-year contract at Fenerbahce.

However, it is understood that no deal has been struck between United and the Turkish club, and sources close to Van Persie insist that he wants to see out the remaining year of his contract at Old Trafford.

The 31-year-old still has concerns over his place in Louis van Gaal’s plans and is expected to hold talks with the United boss to clarify the situation.

But asked about reports that Van Persie will leave, and could seek a £12 million payoff to cover the remaining 12 months of his contract, his representative Kees Voss told Voetbal international: “If Robin had found a new club, we would have announced it. And I’m in the Netherlands right now.

“All I can say that tomorrow (yesterday) Robin will simply report at Manchester United for the first training session.” – Mailonline.
