Latest at WEF:Africa bullish about future prospects

Presentations so far indicate that Africa and its development partners are bullish about future prospects. However, a few strategies will need to be put in place to take the continent to the next level.

Speakers at a press briefing on the launch of the report a few minutes ago stressed the importance of integration if Africa is to achieve sustainable growth. Presently, fragmented efforts have affected initiatives to foster growth.

Africa Development Bank Vice President and chief economist Dr Mthuli Ncube stressed the importance of developing infrastructure such as roads to develop countries.

“Infrastructure is the single most important development tool in Africa. A road is an economy. It improves the quality of life.

“As ADB we are trying to figure out how we can help raise capital for infrastructure development.”

Gaiv Tata, World Bank director financial and private sector development Africa region and financial inclusion global Practice said the ADB and the World bank were platforms through which capital for infrastructure development can be harnessed.
