Our Lord wants the entire nation to fast and pray for seven days for the President. The focus of the fast will be to affirm and bless the king. This is the form of alignment God wants. His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts.
The First Port of Call
Our Lord says first things first. Pray for the king then everything else will fall in place. The Most High says, do not pray for elections, or the Constitution or the GPA or other political agendas. The King of kings says that just pray for the leader I have placed to lead you for such a time as this.
As the people of Zimbabwe both in the nation and those in other nations of the world corporately pray and fast for the President during the specified timeframe, it will be an act of alignment and submission to the king. This act of alignment is as per God’s Master Plan for deliverance and restoration of the nation.
It is the first port of call. God’s word says in I Timothy 2:1, “I urge you then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone, for kings and all those in authority that they may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
Instructions for Fasting and Prayer
The process for the national fast our Lord wants is as stated below:
l The type of fast – The type of fast God wants will entail denying oneself food or any activity as the Spirit leads, taking into consideration health issues. There is no condemnation. It is the obedience God wants.
l Timeframe for the fast – The nation will fast and pray for seven days starting from January 10, 2012. The month of January as the first month of the year, is the first fruits of the year hence our Lord says it is befitting to start the year by praying for the king. The Most High knows that this is also the time when most churches undertake their annual fasts.
Our Lord says as this is a national fast, every Zimbabwean including those in the diaspora are partakers of this fast and this includes all people of different colour, creed, race and religion. Hence people can declare the prayer as groups or as individuals and they can pray anywhere.
l Declaring the Word – The national prayer will take the form of declaring the word of God daily as per recommended prayers (stated below) which were downloaded by the Most High and are based on the word of God. It is critical that the people verbalise God’s word. These prayers are in essence affirmations, which are based on the premise on what we visualise and hope for as a people for our leader.

The outcomes of fasting and praying will encapsulate the following elements:
Prayer and Fasting Changes Things
Breakthroughs: Prayer changes things; prayer and fasting triggers miracles to happen. Prayer and fasting cause breakthroughs. As we fast, God wants us to take heed of His word in Isaiah 58 which implores us that as we fast we ought to do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing of fingers and malicious talk among other things.
Purging: Fasting and praying for the king will be a form of purging us and renewing our minds as a people in preparation for the manifestation of God’s presence in the nation. As the people pray and fast, our Lord will silence peoples flesh and sharpen their spirit-men to hear God more clearly.
The anointing: There is power in prayer and fasting. Prayer and fasting will increase the anointing upon the nation which breaks the yoke of bondage, God’s word says in Isaiah 10:27, “In that day their burden will be lifted from your shoulders, their yoke from your neck, the yoke will be broken because you have grown so fat (because of the anointing oil)”.
Renewing of the Mind
Our Lord says, “I am changing the world systems”. He says we are a peculiar people, and He is doing a peculiar thing. We are not doing things as the world does. Instead of speaking negatively about the king in the media, at rallies, on the pulpits, in our homes, we are blessing the king. God’s word says in Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and perfect will of God.”
The Power of the Spoken Word
As the people of Zimbabwe corporately decree and declare the scriptures over the President, there will be a shift in the spiritual realm as the word of God is living and powerful. It is sharper than any double-edged sword; it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. The word of God the people speak, will be as if it is God speaking. God’s word says in Isaiah 55:11, “So shall my word that goes forth from my mouth; it shall not return to me void. But it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it”.
The significance of seven and 10
The seven day fast which is to start on January 10, are symbolic as both numbers are God numbers. Seven is usually linked to: refinement, preparation, purification, finishing, and heavenly perfection. Ten is linked to completion and earthly perfection. The wall of Jericho collapsed after the people led by Joshua walked around the city seven times. All these elements are relevant in this assignment.
It is well with the head
As we pray for the king, God says He will take care of our business. Our Lord will perfect everything that concerns us. God’s word says in Ezra 6:10, “Pray for the well being of the king” If it is well with the head, it is well with the rest. As we pray for the President, there will be heavy anointing upon the President. The anointing will flow to the rest of the nation and as Psalm 133:2-3 says. “It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion.” There will be a revival in the nation!
The power of unity
As the nation embarks on a corporate prayer and fast for the king, this act will unify the nation in a mighty way. God’s word says in Zephaniah 3:9, “For then I will restore to the people a pure language that they all may call on the name of the Lord, to serve Him with one accord.” There is also a blessing in unity, as God’s word in Psalm 133:1-3 says, “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. For there the Lord commanded the blessing.”
Obedience
The Most High wants the people of Zimbabwe to be obedient and to hearken to His voice and fast and pray for the President as per His command. God’s word says in Deuteronomy 30:11-14, “Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven so that you have to ask “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim to us so we may obey it?” nor is it beyond the sea so that you have to ask, ‘Who will cross the sea and proclaim it to us so that we may obey it?”
The roadmap
This fast is according to God’s timetable. Everything, which has led to this assignment, is God ordained. He has ordered the footsteps of everyone and orchestrated everything related to this fast according to His Plan. God’s timing is perfect, it is neither too early nor too late. All that is required is to plug into the Road Map set by the Most High. It is just simply to obey and He will do the rest. What a mighty God we serve!
Prayer for our President
“We pray for the king continually and bless him all day long” (Psalm 72:15)
O Lord our God, we uphold our President Mugabe at the throne of your grace and as you have placed him to lead us for a special purpose. Father we thank you.
Guidance
You guide him continually and you order his footsteps. He is empowered by the Holy Spirit because it is not by might nor by power but by the Spirit of the living God. Righteousness goes forth as brightness and God’s name is being glorified through him.
Wisdom and Knowledge
The Spirit of the Lord rests upon him and he has the spirit of wisdom, revelation and understanding; the spirit of council and might; the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.
Protection
No weapon forged against him prevails and you put a hedge of protection around him. You are his shelter and a strong tower and a rock that is higher than him.
Victory
You make his paths straight and you give him your shield of victory. Your right hand sustains him and you stoop down to make him great. You take him from strength to strength, from faith to faith and from glory to glory
Strength
He is strengthened from on high and your mighty hand is upon him. He is clothed with strength and honour and he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him.
Peace and Favour
Favour and peace surrounds him like a shield and the peace of God which transcends all understanding guards his heart and mind in Christ Jesus
Prosperity
Prosperity of the spirit, soul and body is his portion. He delights in you and you grant him the desires of his heart. You bless him indeed and you enlarge his territory for your glory. With long life you satisfy him and show him your salvation. You are gracious to him and your face shines upon him. Surely goodness and mercy follows him all the days of his life. And he shall dwell in the house the Lord forevermore.
