I had a nasty experience sometime back when I visited a PowerTel shop to buy an internet recharge voucher on a Saturday and I was told that they had just closed and I would only be able to get service the following week on Monday when they reopened.

That meant I had to wait for more than 48 hours to go online. Back then they never had the newly launched airtime recharge cards or access at OK and Bon Marche.

In the end I was forced to revert to the other ISPs that I always had. I have since got over the incident and I was happy to learn that PowerTel Communications is pulling all the stops to ensure that they deliver on their number one promise to their subscribers – that is convenience.

This includes access to their products and services 24-7, just as they have now moved to being a 360 degree ICT solutions provider.

It has been a long time coming since the launch of their mobile broadband services in 2007 and subsequently the 08611 voice network in 2014. However, they now seem to be on the right path using innovation to drive customer experience and convenience.

PowerTel marketing manager Mr Prosper Mutswiri recently announced that subscribers can now access airtime for both voice and data at the click of a button, thanks to the “Pay now” top-up facility.

The URL to visit is www.topup.co.zw/powertel whatever time of the day – morning, noon, or even midnight.

Clients can use this to top up their account and continue with their work uninterrupted, without having to leave the comfort of their home or office. Once on that site, one simply selects the airtime denominations they wish to credit to their account ranging from $1, $5, $10 and $20 denominations.

“If one wants $3, for instance, you select the $1 and indicate ‘3’ units on that denomination; the absolute great news is that one can pay through any method from: VISA/ Mastercard, ZimSwitch, Telecash and EcoCash and top up at anytime and the new PowerTel EcoCash Biller code to transact is 94485,” he said.

“Gone are the days when customers have to rush to make payment before offices close, no more rush hour during weekends and public holidays, our customers have been complaining when they run out of their airtime for their voice and broadband needs.

“We have added convenience in topping up airtime which has been the missing link that our most valued customers have longed for,” said Mr Mutswiri.

PowerTel’s data and voice airtime is also available from OK or Bon Marche retail outlets nationwide, besides these retail options their shops will continue selling airtime odes or direct top up as usual adding to the convenience.

They are also currently running a promotion of 100MB bought per day offering unlimited browsing and downloads between 8pm and 6am while 500MB lasts for three days of unlimited browsing and downloads and 1GB lasting seven days while 2GB stretches over two weeks with the same benefits.
