RELEGATION fighters Chegutu Pirates have warned their opponents Bindura United to expect a tough encounter when they meet this afternoon at Pfupajena in the World Navi Northern Region Division One soccer league.
There are only five games left this season and Pirates, who were among the strong contenders for the title last year, are currently third from the bottom with 25 points in a league made up of 18 clubs.

However, their coach, Tavaka Gumbo still believes they can turn around their fortunes to survive relegation.
Gumbo said today’s match is a must-win tie.

“It’s possible we can survive. We are still fighting and we need to move away from relegation, that is our objective.
“Preparations have been going on well. We are really prepared for them. It will be a difficult game but definitely we want to win,” said Gumbo.
Gumbo said the there was a lot of drama at the club this year which affected the team on the field of play.

Chegutu had three of their matches moved to Chakari after violence erupted when they played Bindura in the first half of the season.
They also had problems with Gumbo after firing him for poor results and he was replaced by Gipter Raiva.

But Gumbo forced his way back last month with the support of a supporters’ committee that is in now in charge of the team after they ousted the club’s executive. And with such drama one cannot expect much from the team.

“There was a lot happening within the team and that was our major setback.
Last year the team did very well but some of the players left, so this year was another period of rebuilding.
