PRINCE Edward School utility player Noah Penduka believes his side is ready for the Basketball Invitational tournament which gets underway this afternoon at their courts.
The school is expected to host over 40 teams from across the country in one of the big competitions on the local calendar.
The event starts today and ends tomorrow afternoon.

Penduka said his team was ready for the challenge.
“Finally the day has come, we have been training and preparing for this event for more than two weeks. Everyone is looking good and I feel we have the potential, thanks to coach Tapiwa Mungunyana and his assistant coaches for their work.

“We had some tough training sessions and we even had friendly matches against each other so I believe we are going to win and make our school proud again.
“We are not going to relax because we are the defending champions, we have to aim at winning because we know about our team but we do not know what how other teams have prepared,” said Penduka.

Penduka is considered as one of the best players in schools basketball and was the Most Valuable Player at the National Youth Games in Masvingo.
Coach Tapiwa Mungunyana also feels his team is ready for the tournament.

“We are happy that the day is here and we hope we will win, the boys have been really busy on the courts and now it is time.
“There are so many teams who also have been preparing well and I feel it is going to be very competitive but we are going to do our best.”

Some of the schools expected to feature in the tournament include St John’s College, St George’s College, Petra, Mutare Boys, Gateway,  Mufakose 2, Churchill,  Girls High, Nagle House, Peterhouse, Kyle College, Roosevelt,  Heritage, Chipadze, Kwekwe and Watershed.

Neighbours Girls High will also be expecting a good tournament as they are the defending champions in the girls’ competition.
