Listed retailer, OK Zimbabwe said this year’s edition of the OK Grand Challenge Jackpot Promotion is expected to impact positively on revenue following an improvement in the fundamentals around the promotion.

The 27th edition of the promotion was unveiled to media yesterday where a record 44 cars are set to be won among other cash prices.

There are going to be coupons for a car draw, residential stands, cash draw, shop easy raffles, lucky dip, horse forecaster and tote bet.

Speaking on the sidelines of the media briefing yesterday OK Zimbabwe chief operating officer Mr Albert Katsande said this year’s promotion is going to be bigger and better with the group expecting more customers to take part.

“In 2013, the promotion was great but this year we have introduced more vehicles than last year. The following to the promotion is high and we expect uplift in the purchase activity and the groceries in our stores.

“We expect an increase in the customers coming through our doors,” said Mr Katsande.

In the wake of the entry of retail brands like Pick n Pay and Choppies, Mr Katsande said the retail giant will continue to offer fair value to its customers and it is not a race.

He said OK has been the torch bearer in terms of innovations and they will continue offering more on the OK Grand Challenge Promotion.

“We can proudly say we have been the torch bearers in the Zimbabwe retail sector in terms of facility innovation even during the lean years.

“We have covered a lot of our stores in terms of upgrade and we continue to upgrade our stores. It’s not a race we believe our customers deserve to shop in conducive facilities with modern features,” said Mr Katsande.

“We will continue to invest in innovation and upgrading of our facilities and make sure more excitement is added to the Promotion. This year, because of the confidence our supplier partners have in the promotion, it is going to be a success.”

OK Zimbabwe marketing manager Ms Tendai Makomva said they are excited about this year’s edition as it signified the indelible impact the promotion had left on the market.

“This year’s promotion is going to be bigger and better and that excites us and the customers who have remained loyal to the brand OK Zimbabwe.

“The criteria and fundamentals of this year’s promotion provide opportunity for everyone to participate,” said Ms Makomva.

The draw would be conducted on June 6 this year at Borrowdale Race Course.
