Oceane Collection Perfumes has proven its staying power as it celebrates 12 years in business by embarking on empowerment programmes that are set to benefit many men and women across Zimbabwe through networking marketing of beauty products. As has been the norm, a fortnight ago the local cosmetic power house honoured its promise to its distributors who have continued to make Oceane Perfumes shine while some brands are losing lustre by failing to meet their promises.

The organisation recently gave out four vehicles, among them a Mercedes Benz to their ambassadors, at an event which was full of glitz and glamour in Harare.

The four women will have the opportunity to drive these cars as long as they remain Oceane ambassadors.

To win a car all that was required from Oceane distributors was to sell 20 bottles and above over a period of 12months.

With a current database of over 4 000 members who are distributing Oceane Perfumes products countrywide, expectations’ are high that the membership is set to increase, as the organisation moves towards empowering ordinary citizens with sustainable, cheap but practical empowerment initiatives.

In an interview, Oceane Perfumes spokesperson Mrs Blessing Mashangwa said giving away the cars was the organisation’s commitment towards empowering its members and will continue to do so to ensure that Oceane Collection Perfumes will not only remain a brand of choice but also the employer of choice for the several distributors that it has.

Currently the organisation is working on a number of initiatives to empower ordinary people to get into business with little or no capital.

“We recently launched a promotion, the Oceane Silver Lining as part of our empowerment programme, where members or non-members are assured of disposable income.

Launched late last year, the Oceane Silver Lining promotion gives its members guaranteed income through a relay concept where members will recruit people once and stand a chance to earn a once off payment of $7000.

Modeled along a concept developed in the UK, Oceane Silver lining gives its members a once off opportunity to recruit 10 people before handing over the baton stick to the next person, to do the same.

Having recruited 10 people, the Oceane Silver Lining member will earn $250 on the first stage, $500 in the second, a salary of$400 a month for six months before getting a lump sum of $7000.

Mrs Mashangwa said the promotion was modeled in a quick and effective work to ensure members do not experience fatigue and a burn out while selling the products.

“With other network companies, you need to continuously and constantly recruit and sell. However with Oceane Silver Lining all you need to do is to sell your 10 hampers and then recruit 10 more people who must in turn sell 10 hampers each. Subsequently you become part of the race to earn more income without excessive effort,” she said.

Many of their distributors are doing both the silver lining and the usual monthly sales commission based concept.

From a mere idea mooted by Upenyu and Blessing Mashangwa, Oceane Perfumes has become a household brand in Zimbabwe specialising in generic perfumes, roll-ons and an array of lotions.

Headquartered in Harare, it now has distribution branches in nearly every town in Zimbabwe, creating networking marketing opportunities for thousands of men and women across.

The products’ sustainability on the market have been attributed to Mrs Mashangwa’s business acumen and her passion in empowering women and disadvantaged communities.

Her empowerment initiatives have earned her many accolades within the business community.

Last year she won an award from Megafest and she was recently recognised at the Women in Business Awards in Harare a fortnight ago when she won the Women’s Top business Leader of the year – Special Recognition in Entrepreneurial Excellence.

Mrs Mashangwa who holds a Thames Valley degree in business, said the success of Oceane Perfumes could only be attributed to the grace of God.
