ON-FIRE Ngezi Platinum emerged the biggest winners in the Northern Region Division One soccer league when they massacred Dstv Rangers 5-0 in their backyard in the matches played over the weekend.

Ngezi, who were inactive the previous week when their match against ZRP Morris was cancelled, proved too good for the home side at Old Hararians Sports Club.

Ngezi got their goals from Evans Katema, who scored a hat-trick, while Innocent Sokosi weighed in with a brace.

“It was an excellent performance since we did not play the previous week. I think we are okay, we are on the right track,” said Ngezi coach Kifton “Somalia” Kadurira.

“It is a good result since we are picking points away from home.

“I cannot say much but things are beginning to shape up and I am ready to challenge for the title.”

Log leaders Herentals drew 1-1 against ZRP Morris at Morris Depot.

Despite dropping two points, they remained on pole position after the other three teams — Black Rhinos, Mushowani and Gunners — also drew their matches.

The army derby between Blue Jets and Rhinos ended in a goalless draw while Mushowani were also held to a 0-0 draw by Starbill.

The match between fourth-placed Gunners and Zatex also ended in a goalless stalemate.
