Freelance journalist Zecheaus Nemadire (23), who was on Tuesday night attacked and killed by suspected robbers in Bluffhill, Harare, will be buried at his rural home in Birchenough, about 1ookm south of Mutare, today. A post-mortem was conducted on his body at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals and the family was still waiting for the results yesterday.

Zecheaus’ brother, Tangai, said the body was last night taken to his rural home. Police said they suspect that Zecheaus was hit with a blunt object on the face and forehead since he was found bleeding from the nose.

The police were still investigating the case and no arrests had been made by yesterday. The matter is being handled by detectives from the CID Homicide Section.

Zecheaus’ body was found about 500 metres away from his family’s home along Lavenham Road on Wednesday morning by a passer-by who informed the police. The body was discovered at around 10am facing down about five metres away from the road.

He had no visible injuries except for nose-bleeding. Next to his body was a computer mouse which suggested that he was carrying a laptop.
His identification particulars were also scattered near the scene.

Zecheaus did his attachment at The Herald before joining the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society as an assistant public relations officer early this year.
