WARRIORS forward Nyasha Mushekwi is a big doubt for Zimbabwe’s crucial 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi scheduled for the National Sports Stadium this weekend. Mushekwi, who plies his trade in China for Division One side Dalian Yifang, was conspicuous by his absence on the first day of training when the Zimbabwe national team regrouped to start preparations for the qualifier.

Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa said from the communication they received from China, chances were slim that Mushekwi, whose side has been involved in the promotion play-offs, would travel for the game.

The technical team also had to do without the quartet of Khama Billiat, Cuthbert Malajila and Tendai Ndoro, who were expected to grace the South Africa Premiership end-of-year awards last night and Matthew Rusike, who was still holed up in Sweden. Pasuwa said the four players are expected in the camp by end of day today.

He said the Warriors started training with 21 players yesterday in the morning before they were joined by skipper Willard Katsande and Onismor Bhasera.

Katsande was rested for the afternoon training session as the coach felt he needed time to recover as he had just arrived from Mutare by road. The Kaizer Chiefs hardman, however, is expected to play a part in the international friendly against Uganda this afternoon.
