Mourinho’s Pogba ultimatum Jose Mourinho

LONDON. — Jose Mourinho is prepared to move on from Paul Pogba if he isn’t a Manchester United player by next Sunday, according to reports.

Starsport revealed that the Portuguese will go for Paris St-Germain’s Blaise Matuidi if Pogba to United drags on too long.

Pogba is keen to move back to Old Trafford and agreed personal terms three weeks ago but it is agent Mino Raiola’s fee which is holding things up.

Juventus think United should pay all of his £20m fee for facilitating the move to Manchester.

Red Devils chief executive Ed Woodward was reluctant to meet those demands but he is thought to have caved in and the deal has taken big steps forward over the last few hours.

However, Mourinho has become so frustrated with the lengthy delay he is making backup plans should it not be done by August 7, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Matuidi has been targeted as the United boss harbours fears Real Madrid could still swoop in and steal Pogba from under their nose.

Unai Emery has admitted Matuidi could leave PSG this summer if he wants regular first-team football.

He said: “He is a very good player. We have a lot of left-footed defensive midfielders.

“If he has the opportunity to leave and if he thinks there are too many midfielders here… But I do not want him to go.” However, Pogba joining Manchester United is a done deal, according to huge claims from a source.

Manchester United are ready to pay a world-record transfer fee to land the Juventus star this summer.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane also wants Pogba, but he looks set for a return to Old Trafford four years after leaving on a free transfer.

The Sun claim United have struck a deal worth £112million to land top target Pogba for boss Mourinho.

A top Juventus source is quoted as saying: “A deal with United is done.”

And Pogba got tongues wagging on Thursday night by posting a cheeky snap on his social media accounts. Wearing bright red shoes and a bright red hat, the 23-year-old captioned his pic: “on route 66 #holidays #route66”.

The Sun add United will pay Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola a staggering £20m as part of the transfer, with Juve handing over a sum of £4m to the Italian.

And The Guardian say United are so confident of securing the deal that Pogba is now waiting on the green light to undergo a medical.

Should the move go through, Mourinho will have fought off competition from Real boss Zidane.

This week he said: “In this moment we are still working (on a move for Pogba), and I cannot say anything more.

“Until August 31 anything can happen, but today he is not a Real Madrid player and I cannot talk about what will happen.

“I always say how things are, but now is not the time to talk about this.

“A lot of clubs are interested in Pogba.” — The Daily Star.
