SPORT, Arts and Culture Minister, Andrew Langa, has engaged the Premier Soccer League management and issued a request for them to postpone the match between Dynamos and Flame Lily at Gwanzura this Sunday.Langa said the Glamour Boys’ tie would be a counter-attraction to the crucial Mighty Warriors final qualifying match for the All-Africa Games.

The Mighty Warriors will be out to overturn 1-2 defeat they suffered in Accra.

“We need to come out in full force, as Zimbabweans, to support the Girl Child. If the team is supported materially, and morally, they will do it,” said Langa.

“I am aware there is Premiership game at Gwanzura and my appeal is that people in Harare should come to Rufaro and support the girls.
“I have requested that the Gwanzura match be moved.  I have spoken to the PSL management, and Kenny Ndebele, who is trying to engage the management and the clubs involved and see whether they can accept my request.

“If my request is not granted I will still appeal to all supporters and Zimbabweans to go and support the Girl Child. It is a week where there is a lot of sporting activities and I wish everyone all the best.”

The PSL leadership moved the DeMbare game to Gwanzura after the Glamour Boys said they were more comfortable playing in Highfield than at the National Sports Stadium.

Langa also wished the Young Warriors all the best in their adventure in Cameroon.

“At the same time the Under-23s are flying out this Friday, we beat Cameroon here and we have a slight advantage,” said Langa.
“If the boys go there and become complacent they will lose the match. We have the Paralympic Games and we also have the golf tournament here in Harare and then the Girl Child at Rufaro on Sunday.”

Langa said he was happy that all the provinces responded positively to the Paralympic Games that started yesterday.

“This is an opportunity to identify talent for further training and I am inviting all sports loving people to come on Friday when Vice President Emmerson Mnangangwa officially opens the Games,” he said.

Earlier this week, Sport, Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Tabetha Kanengoni-Malinga, said they wanted to lure thousands of fans to come and support the Mighty Warriors on Sunday.

Kanengoni-Malinga accompanied the team to Accra.
