MASVINGO City Council has completed a $17 000 water supply project for the Central Business District, Masvingo General Hospital and the industrial area. The project, funded by Delta Corporation, will ensure uninterrupted supply of water to targeted and critical areas. In an interview, Masvingo City’s Engineer Tawanda Gozo said the completion of the long-awaited project would go a long way in addressing the water challenges in key institutions in the city.

“We are happy that council has completed the uninterrupted water supply project courtesy of Delta Corporation,” he said. “This will help our provincial hospital and industries that include Delta Corporation at their new Chibuku Plant.”

Eng Gozo said council took advantage of Delta Corporation’s need to have uninterrupted water supply and extended the project to the CBD and the province’s referral hospital.

“We have installed isolation valves for the CBD, the industrial and Masvingo General Hospital. We completed this project last month and it cost us at least $17 000. Delta Corporation wanted to invest in its $14 million brewery plant that was commissioned recently where the company needs uninterrupted water supply for the manufacturing of beer,” he said.

“They have a 1,5 million litre tank of water which should have enough water for 24 hours a day and we also took advantage and extended to other key areas. We took note of the key economic drivers for our city and made sure that they get water supply the whole day.”

In a recent full council meeting it was reported that the dedicated water supply project to the CBD, industrial area and Masvingo General Hospital was completed and inspections done by end of October.

“It was noted that maintenance of installed isolation valves was important to ensure consistency in water supply
