CHARLES Manyuchi is optimistic he will come out victorious in tomorrow’s World Boxing Council silver welterweight boxing title fight against Dmitry Mikhaylenko of Russia at DIVS Arena in Yekaterinburg. The title was previously held by Briton Amir Khan. Manyuchi has been in Russia since last week, making his final preparations for the bout and is confident he will win the fight.

The Zimbabwean boxer, who is the holder of the WBC welterweight bronze title, is aiming for greatness in the world of boxing and will move a rung up if he succeeds against the undefeated Mikhaylenko.

Speaking from Yekaterinburg yesterday, Manyuchi said he is ready for the fight and is not concerned about Mikhaylenko’s record. The Russian is undefeated in 21 fights while Manyuchi has 17 wins from 20 matches.

“Everything is good and I am ready. “There is no need of knowing him . . . and every game is a new game. “I am ready and I am well prepared. “I will do my best to bring the belt home,” said Manyuchi. The Zimbabwean fighter said although he is expecting a tough challenge from his Russian opponent and that he is not reading much into that.

“It’s not easy but every game is a new game,” said Manyuchi. Manyuchi’s last fight was in July last year, when he knocked out Gianlucca Frezza in Italy in the sixth round of the bronze title bout.

The 26-year-old was accompanied by his manager at Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions, Christopher Malunga, coach Mike Zulu and assistant coach Greetings Kaunga. Manyuchi’s career appeared to have gone off the rails last year following a fallout with his Zambian promoters Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions.

However, they resolved their differences early this year.
