RUSSELL Madamombe and Simba Sithole have agreed to extend their contracts at Dynamos with a further one year each after reaching common ground with the Harare giants following weeks of negotiations.

The players are expected to put pen to paper today, if all goes well, with the only sticking point being the payment plan. The players have not been training with the team since the Harare giants begun pre-season preparations two weeks ago.

Madamombe only joined his teammates on Tuesday while negotiations were taking place but Sithole is still to start as he was waiting for the outcome of the talks.

The players’ agent Gibson Mahachi yesterday told The Herald that he had managed to thrash out deals with the Glamour Boys and will be looking to get the financial guarantees before they put pen to paper.

“We agreed the figures but, like I said before, the delay in this issue wasn’t about money because we had agreed to come down from last year, looking at the environment the clubs are operating in Zimbabwe.

“So the players might actually sign the contracts tomorrow (today) but what we want is a firm payment plan which can be honoured.

“Dynamos have given me their proposal which I am discussing with the players to hear their feelings.

“Obviously it’s the player’s welfare that I put first. I will take that back to Dynamos tomorrow (today) and then we can have something in writing,” said Mahachi.

DeMbare are believed to be still owing Madamombe part of his payment from the previous deal and the players handlers wanted to get clear guarantees from the club before entering into another agreement.

Talks between Mahachi and Dynamos had seemed to have stalled as both parties had not been able to meet since early this month when they had their initial meeting.

But while the availability of Madamombe and Sithole now appear certain, the situation is still hazy regarding striker Rodreck Mutuma and Tafadzwa Rusike.

Although the new DeMbare technical team led by David Mandigora had indicated they are interested in keeping the players, the two are still locked in negotiations with the club.

The players are represented by former Zimbabwe international Edzai Kasinauyo.

Mutuma has since started training while Rusike, who has reportedly attracted interests of an Angolan club, has not been able to train.

DeMbare are looking to retain the four players after losing a number of key players from last season.

Their captain Murape Murape was not given a new contract while his two assistants Thomas Magorimbo and Tawanda Muparati found home elsewhere.

Soccer Star of the Year finalist Themba Ndlovu, Ronald Chitiyo, Devon Chafa, Washington Pakamisa and Devon Chafa have also moved.
