Minister of State for Midlands Provincial Affairs Cde Jason Machaya has sent condolence messages to the families of four Unki Mine workers who died after a company bus they were travelling in plunged into Mutevekwe River on Sunday.
Police identified the four as Darlington Ganyani (30), Mankoluku Munashe, Simon Moyo and Jubeya Mugiya whose ages were not given.
Cde Machaya said he was deeply saddened by the tragedy which left 68 workers injured.

“It is really tragic that the workers died in the accident. We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families. We have worked with Unki for a long time and nothing of that nature has ever happened. We learnt with deep sadness that four workers died on the spot while 68 others were seriously injured. May their dear departed souls rest in eternal peace,’’ he said.

Cde Machaya, who visited the survivors of the accident at Gweru Provincial and Clay Bank Hospitals in Gweru on Tuesday wished the injured a speedy recovery. Cde Machaya was accompanied by Unki Mine general manager, Mr Walter Nemasasi.
