Herald scoops award
Sports Reporter
FOR the second time The Herald has won the Zimbabwe Golf Association award as the top publication when it comes to the coverage of the sport in the country. The function was held at Country Club last night. This newspaper won the inaugural award two years ago and last year it went to Tee Times. Yesterday, The Herald, which leads the way in the coverage of sport in the country, triumphed once again beating competition from Newsday and The Standard.
Takudzwa Chitsiga, The Herald’s golf correspondent, was crowned the best golf writer. “It’s another vote of confidence in our work and we are happy that people out there appreciate what we are doing,” The Herald’s Senior Sports Editor Robson Sharuko, said.
“Of course, this can only inspire us to do even better and we are committed to doing that so that we serve all disciplines because while football is the main sport in this country, it doesn’t mean it’s the only sport.”
The best professional Golfer of the Year award went to Scott Vincent.
