FOOTBALL administrator Leslie Gwindi has taken to his Facebook page to criticise Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Andrew Langa following his recent trip to Brazil to watch the World Cup final. Gwindi alleged on his page that Langa had allegedly been compromised after agreeing to take part in the trip when the game is crying for attention back home.

Although Gwindi claims that Langa’s trip was footed by Zifa president Cuthbert Dube, the reality is that he was a guest of SuperSport through their partnership with the PSL.

“Instead we have a laughable scenario where Cuthbert Dube led a team comprising politicians — Minister Andrew Langa and Temba Mliswa on a junket to Brazil while the House of Horror at 53 Livingstone House was burning,” Gwindi wrote on his Facebook page.

“It does need an accountant to calculate the value of the junket as Zifa president Cuthbert Dube indeed picked up the bill as usual for such holy grails for those too poor and weak to qualify for the global showcase.

“What then this tells us is simply that we have a lap dog for a minister after Minister Langa was pocketed, no wonder now he is saying I cannot dissolve the board.”

Langa dismissed Gwindi’s statements saying they lacked substance.
“It’s unfortunate Mr Gwindi thinks that way. I travelled to Brazil courtesy of SuperSport, not Zifa or Mr Dube, and in terms of my loyalties I would like to go on record as saying I am very professional in how I go about my work.

“I have never been influenced, enticed or bribed to make any decision to anyone’s benefit,
“Zifa reports to the Sport and Recreation Commission and to the best of my knowledge their latest accounts were audited.”

Gwindi told The Herald that he posted the massage in his personal capacity and defended the post saying that football fans were concerned about where the minister’s interests now lay following his sponsored trip to Brazil by the same people he was supposed to be monitoring.
