FORGOTTEN striker Evans Gwekwerere yesterday trained with Dynamos as the Glamour Boys intensified their preparations for the crucial trip to Mutare this weekend. The forward was involved in yesterday’s workout although it could not immediately be ascertained what plans the technical team have for him following a dull start by the former champions. But could he be the answer to the team’s woes in front of goal?

Gwekwerere has been out of a job since he returned from Mozambique last year where he played for Premier League side Ferroviario de Maputo before being loaned out to second tier Text Africa.

His position with the Glamour Boys was not clear as of yesterday but the club’s secretary-general Webster Chikengezha said although he trained with the team, there was nothing concrete on the ground.

Dynamos are still searching for strikers after they failed to beef up during the pre-season.

Team manager, Richard Chihoro, refused to talk about the situation in their camp ahead of the must-win match against Mutare City Rovers this Sunday.

The technical department led by Paulo Jorge Silva should be feeling intense pressure after they were given an ultimatum to start winning games.

But can the Glamour Boys turn on the power and get their first set of maximum points this weekend?

The Portuguese mentor leads the side to Sakubva to face newboys Mutare City Rovers with the axe hovering over his head as he needs nothing short of victory in the Eastern Highlands on Sunday in order to buy more time on the job.

Silva needs something magical to preserve his stay in the DeMbare set-up considering the way his team has been performing of late after losing four of their five competitive matches.

The poor run has irked the team’s leadership who demanded positive results following a meeting held on Wednesday evening.

The spotlight will be on the strikers again as the team has not been scoring goals.

DeMbare failed to find good forwards during the pre-season and their strike-force remains the weakest link.

Silva’s mandate is to win the league championship but now he has a target to meet if he is to last the distance, after the leadership invoked a clause in his contract for the review of the first eight competitive games.

But with four defeats and one draw in all competitions so far, things have not gone the right way for the coach and his technical team of Lloyd Mutasa, Gift Muzadzi and Chihoro.

While DeMbare started with a defeat and a draw, their opponents have lost both league matches and should also be hard-pressed for results after appointing a new technical led by Taku Shariwa.

Mutare City Rovers suffered a 3-0 hiding at home by fellow new-boys Ngezi Platinum Stars in their debut Premiership match before going down again 4-1 at the hands of Harare City.

Silva was positive last week when he spoke about the trip to Mutare and he watched Rovers’ match against Harare City on television.

“I am going there for a win. I saw them on television and they are not a bad team. It’s a team with experienced players but like I tell you we are going there to win,” said Silva.

Silva was worried his options were limited, especially with the unavailability of Richard Kawondera.

The former Triangle man will miss his second game for the red card he picked in the first match at Chicken Inn.
