LONDON. — Tottenham’s stalemate at Bournemouth in the English Premiership on Saturday left Arsenal even more frustrated at the weekend, according to Petr Cech. The Gunners goalkeeper helped ensure Arsene Wenger’s side at least came away with the same score against Middlesbrough. But having seen their north London rivals drop points on the south coast earlier in the day, Arsenal were keen to capitalise.

However, Aitor Karanka’s men almost left with all three points from the Emirates instead. Heroics from Cech ensured Arsenal stayed level at the top by the end of the weekend, but the three-time Premier League winner with Chelsea wanted more.

“We are disappointed more that Tottenham dropped points and we wanted to open the gap even more,” Cech said. “Some teams are going to drop points, so we wanted to take advantage of that but it wasn’t to be.

“But there is a long way to go, I think that we are in a good position and we are in a good shape as well.” Cech’s Arsenal face a showdown with Spurs in less than two weeks’ time at the Emirates. — The Daily Express
