Headman Adam Katsvere has been installed as Chief Chanetsa after 65 years of headmanship following restoration of the colonially prejudiced chieftaincy. The Chanetsa chieftainship was reduced to headman status after the then Chief Chanetsa pointed a gun at a district administrator known as Nyamambishi in 1950.

This was in protest against displacement by the colonial regime as it sought arable land for agricultural expansion and mining.

Chief Chanetsa is the fifth in the Chanetsa chieftaincy and will have 72 headmen. He was born on January 15, 1950. Chief Chanetsa has three wives and 18 children.

In a speech read on his behalf by Mashonaland West Minister of State Cde Faber Chidarikire, Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister Cde Saviour Kasukuwere said traditional leaders were part of Government and should uphold cultural values.
