LEADERS FC Platinum say they are primed for a tough contest against defending champions Chicken Inn at Mandava today, but believe they have the arsenal to win this Castle Lager Premiership showdown. The Zvishavane miners come up against their former coach Rahman Gumbo who came within just a draw, at home against Dynamos in 2011, to claim the league title for FC Platinum.

“Our hope will always be to collect maximum points especially when we playing at home,” FC Platinum spokesperson Chido Chizondo said. “Chicken Inn are a good side and we are not taking anything for granted going into this fixture.” FC Platinum strikers have been firing blanks of late, but their midfielders have been on song with crucial goals along the way.

Nqobizitha Masuku, Winston Mhango and Rodwell Chinyengetere have been on target of late. Last weekend at Gibbo, Masuku scored in the victory over plucky Triangle. FC Platinum have only conceded 10 goals in 20 matches

Club president George Mawere is on course to make history by becoming the first administrator to lead a side from outside Harare and Bulawayo to league championship glory since independence.

The Gamecocks, though, are a solid team and, on their day, they can give any side a tough time. But they have suffered from the loss of some of their best players, including skipper Danny Phiri, to South Africa. Teenage Hadebe could be on his way to South Africa soon.
