BELLE EPOQUE won the 1260 meters Sable Flyers race by 1,75 lens at Borrowdale Park on Sunday.

The runner had apprentice Mpumelelo Mjoka aboard when they got the better of three others who had taken to the starting stalls.

Belle Epoque is trained by Kirk Swanson and owned by Christopher Peech.

The five-year-old mare by Seventh Rock (AUS) and bred in Zimbabwe by Rumbavu Stud has now won four races and is out of a Kitalpha (USA) mare.

Elegant Beauty, partnering Ryan Munger, was in second place and pocketed $1 600 as pre-race favourite Wylde Style, who had a connection with Randall Simon, finished third.

Elegant Beauty is also from the same stable as Wylde Style and this was her first start in Harare.

The runner is by Main Aim (GB), the four-year-old filly has one win and three places from 10 starts

The other race saw Zita, a six-year-old Soar With Eagles (USA) gelding, winning the 1200m MR 65 Handicap run over 1200m.

Penny Fisher’s charge has now won four races and this time beat Nimble Dancer by 1.25 lengths, with Shepparton and Just a Jag finishing third and fourth.

The winning owners were Brian McLauchlan, Matthew Charlton, Kevin Fallon, Ken and Penny Fisher, Alistair and Natalie Fisher and Alex Fisher.

Ryan Munger had the ride and Zita was bred by the Spotted Pig Stud in Zimbabwe.

The Fisher yard scored again when Eurozone won the last race on Sunday’s card.
