HARARE giants Dynamos are following the Africa Nations Championship as they search for a central striker to lead their attack this season.

The Glamour Boys want to strengthen their squad and win back the title after they were dethroned by Chicken Inn last season.

Already they have made four new signings and yesterday club president Kenny Mubaiwa said they were searching for a prolific forward to complement their strike-force that includes Rodreck Mutuma, Kelvin Bulaji, Richard Kawondera and Takesure Chinyama.

He said they have had recommendations from former Nigeria captain, Austin “Jay Jay” Okocha, who has promised them four “good” players but they are still considering the proposals.

Mubaiwa yesterday said they have requested videos from the former Super Eagles skipper while they have also extended the search to the CHAN tournament.

“I think we are now covered in the other departments except in strike-force. So we are looking for a genuine central striker who can bang in the goals,” said Mubaiwa.

“We have decided to cast our net wide and we thought of taking advantage of the CHAN tournament that is currently underway in Rwanda. Hopefully if we can find one striker who can fit the bill.

“Okocha has been calling us and he has four players that he wants us to see. He has a central striker, left winger, centre-back and an attacking midfielder but as I have said we want only a striker.

“He says they are all good and keeps insisting that they do not need trials but we have requested to see videos before we can invite them here. You never know with these agents.

“We would like to avoid the situation like the one we encountered with (Fabrice) Mbimba who came here and failed to rise to expectations.

“So we will not rush into things. We don’t know these players because we have never seen them. Moreover our financial position may not allow us to consider all of them.

“But if it happens that we are satisfied with these players, and they are exceptionally good as he says, then we might be tempted to take them on board knowing that we have made a good investment.”

Dynamos have so far roped in Dominic Mukandi from bitter rivals CAPS United, former Gunners and Highlanders midfielder Valentine Ndaba and the ex-Triangle duo of holding midfielder Tichaona Chipunza and goalkeeper Ashley Reyners. The club lost two of their valued assets, Ronald Chitiyo and Blessing Moyo, who crossed the floor to CAF Confederation Cup participants Harare City.

Mubaiwa said they were looking to regain their dominance on the domestic scene and have engaged Portuguese gaffer Paulo Jorge Silva who will be assisted by their son Lloyd Mutasa.

DeMbare parted ways with Tonderai Ndiraya, who was caretaker coach for the second half of the 2015 season, but goalkeepers’ coach Gift Muzadzi and team manager, Richard Chihoro, have been retained.

“Our target is to win all that we lost last season. We have to make amends by winning silverware in 2016. So we look forward to a good pre-season training,” said Mubaiwa.
