DYNAMOS manager Richard Chihoro believes the championship race is still wide open and his team can go all the way and land the title.

The Glamour Boys beat Chapungu 1-0 last Sunday and Chihoro believes they can sneak in and win the title.

DeMbare are nine points adrift of log leaders FC Platinum, having accrued 35 points from 22 matches.

With 24 points still up for grabs in the title race, Lloyd Mutasa and his men believe they have what it takes to shove aside FC Platinum, high-flyng CAPS United, Highlanders and ZPC Kariba to win the championship.

Chihoro, who has kept the post for past six years, said his team’s title rivals should rule Dynamos out of the championship race at their own peril.

“In as much as we appreciate that we are not in a good position on the table, I have to say it is not too late for us to talk of winning the championship.

“We shot ourselves in the foot by staying for a long period without posting some positive results.

“The spell which we went through, when we limped for six consecutive games without winning, affected us, but I am very happy that the leading pack failed to take full advantage of that as they also struggled to win during that period.

“We are now back to winning ways and the leaders somehow are not winning. That is a plus on our part and we now want to maintain our winning form and see what happens at the end of the marathon,” said Chihoro.

He said Dynamos needed to win all their remaining matches to keep alive their hopes of snatching the big prize.

Interestingly, DeMbare are still to play the log’s top three clubs, FC Platinum, CAPS United and Highlanders in the reverse fixtures, having lost to all of them in the first round.

The results of those games could play a part in deciding the destiny of the championship.

On Sunday, they take on Highlanders in The Battle of Zimbabwe.

“We are playing Highlanders on Sunday and we are not dwelling much into the past. They beat us in Harare, but a lot has changed since then.

“This is a must win tie for us because we cannot rest and allow other teams to compete for the title. We are training harder than before and I am sure results will come,” he said.

Bosso coach Erol Akbay is on record saying his charges are playing for the league title and it will be interesting to see who emerge victorious in this potential thriller.
