promiscuity with village boys.
The 35-year-old father from Mutema communal lands was convicted on his own plea of guilty on indecent assault charges. Gutu provincial magistrate Mr Amos Mbobo on Monday last week slapped him with a six-month jail term but suspended half the sentence.
In October last year, the father confronted his daughter who was doing Form Three at a local school and accused her of sleeping around with some boys in the village.
He accused his daughter of performing badly in school as a result of her promiscuity and threatened to sleep with her to quench her alleged sexual appetite.
Fearing that her father would rape her, she fled the scene with her father in hot pursuit.
The father managed to out-sprint his daughter and grabbed her by the hand before undressing her and pulling her private parts saying he wanted to punish her for her alleged conduct.
He only stopped after his wife screamed and threatened to kill herself. The girl reported the matter to her school teacher the following morning who then made a report to the police leading to her father’s arrest.
Mr Tedious Muchangani prosecuted.
Meanwhile, the case in which Beitbridge businessman, Elias Chibi, is being charged for allegedly verbally assaulting a Zimbabwe Revenue Authority official manning a tollgate and refusing to pay the US$1 toll fee has been postponed to August 25 for judgment.
Chibi (44) of Number 650 Baobab Road in the border town denied the charges of contravening the Criminal Law (Reform and Codification) Act, Chapter 9:23 when he appeared before magistrate Mr Carrington Karidzagundi.
