Chingoka now ZC honorary life president

Paul ChingokaZimbabwe Cricket has appointed former chairman Peter Chingoka as Honorary Life President. The privileges of an Honorary Life Member include attendance at annual general meetings and consultative forums, invitation to matches and other events of note.
The invitation by the Zimbabwe Cricket board for Chingoka to be Honorary Life President was unanimously approved by the organisation’s affiliates at the annual general meeting held in Harare on August 28.

Extending congratulations to Chingoka, on behalf of the ZC board, chairman Wilson Manase said: “The approval by the affiliates of the invitation for you to become an Honorary Life President of ZC is testimony of your impeccable record of service to Zimbabwe cricket.”

Chingoka joined the then Zimbabwe Cricket Board of Control as a board member in 1982.

He became vice-president in 1990 and president in 1992.

In 2001, he assumed the new title of board chairman and remained in office until his retirement this year.

During his time as president and then chairman,he represented ZC on the International Cricket Council Executive Board and then after its formation to oversee the ICC commercial and event activities, also on the IDI Board.

Mr Chingoka also served for some time as the chairman of the Africa Cricket Association and vice-chairman of the Afro-Asia Cricket Cooperation. — Zimcricket
