THE Chevrons yesterday crashed to one of their worst losses in Twenty20 matches following a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association XI yesterday.

Zimbabwe will play another warm-up game against Bangladesh today.

The defeat was their first warm-up match in India ahead of the World T20 competition where they are set to feature in the play-offs first in an attempt to make to the main tournament.

Opting to bat first, Zimbabwe only managed 112/7 in their allotted 20 overs against a domestic cricket team.

With former captain Elton Chigumbura, Sikandar Raza-Butt, Tendai Chatara and Tawanda Mupariwa not in the side, Zimbabwe’s lack of depth was exposed.

An unbeaten 50 off 51 from Richmond Mutumbami was all in vain as he was the only one who came up with a meaningful contribution.

Captain and opener Hamilton Masakadza chipped in with 20.

Donald Tiripano (12) and Sean Williams (10) competed the list of batsmen with double figures for Zimbabwe.

And the target proved pretty much an easy task for HPCA.

The top order reached the target with 36 balls to spare after losing three wickets.

Zimbabwe will face Bangladesh today and Ireland on Sunday in warm-up matches lined up under the International Cricket Council practice schedule for the World Twenty20 tournament.

The two matches are in Dharamshala.

The Zimbabwe touring party will then go to Nagpur, for their ICC World Twenty20 qualifying Group B matches against Hong Kong, Scotland and Afghanistan. – sportszone.co.zw
