Bulawayo City Council struggles to rehabilitate streets

In his 2011 message to the city, Clr Moyo said most of the city’s roads had outlived their lifespan.

“The poor road network has outlived its lifespan with virtually all road networks having exceeded 21 years. Our roads should be resealed every seven years, but due to lack of resources, the city’s network now consists of more potholes than the original surface,” he said.

“The road network has also been adversely affected by lack of capital funding as well as basic material such as tar for patching.”

He said the city council, however, managed to rehabilitate some roads despite the challenges.-Chronicle
