JOHANNESBURG. — Mamelodi Sundowns star Khama Billiat admits that 2015/16 will be a season never to forget. This after the 25-year-old took the season-ending #PSLAwards at Emperors Palace by storm on Monday night when he won every category he was nominated in.

The Zimbabwean walked away with the night’s most coveted prize, the PSL Footballer of the Season.

Billiat also took home the 2015/16 Absa Premiership Player’s Player of the Season and the Absa Premiership Midfielder of the Season.

“It’s feels great (to win to the awards),” he said in an interview published on the official PSL site. “Every player would like to win stuff like this at the end of the season.

“I am so excited, I don’t know what to say. This is the best season ever in my career. I think it’s because I didn’t get serious injuries and managed to stay on the field more than before.”

In all three categories, Billiat edged his teammates, Hlompho Kekana and Keagan Dolly. Fellow Sundowns compatriots Dennis Onyango and Thabo Nthethe were named Absa Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season and Absa Premiership Defender of the Season respectively.

And the star of the night, praised his teammates for their support in helping him reach the top.

“I have been working hard and the players have been helping me,” he added. “They played a big role to bring the best out of me; I am around very good players at Sundowns.”

Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane was named Absa Premiership Coach of the Season.

But Billiat, the Mamelodi Sundowns dynamo, was the centre of attention at the 2015/16 #PSLAwards when he claimed three main awards as the PSL honoured this season’s top achievers.

The Zimbabwean international also took home the 2015/16 Absa Premiership Player’s Player of the Season and the Absa Premiership Midfielder of the Season. In all three categories, he edged his teammates, Kekana and Dolly.

He took total prize money of R450 000 (R250 000 for Footballer of the Season, R150 000 for Absa Premiership Player’s Player of the Season and R50 000 for Absa Premiership Midfielder of the Season). The PSL Footballer of the Season is voted for by the coaches in the Premier Division.
