Apply for Form One places now, parents told “We have started in the rural areas because the process of assessing the situation in those areas has been completed. We have heard that the process in urban areas has also been completed but we are yet to get the report. The idea is not to leave anyone or place behind. Every Zimbabwean who deserves food aid will get it,” said Prof Mavima.

Parents and guardians should start applying for next year’s Form One places using the online platform — eMap — to their preferred schools and should not wait to congest the platform when the Grade Seven results are out, Primary and Secondary Education Deputy Minister, Professor Paul Mavima has said. In an interview, Prof Mavima said boarding schools across the country had opened online application for Form One places. “We introduced the online application system for Form One places last year,” he said. “Although parents and guardians encountered some minor challenges, the system saved its purpose well and this is the second year of using this system.

“We have since upgraded the system and it is now very efficient. Schools have opened applications and parents should start applying now.” Prof Mavima said parents would only forward their kids’ results later after the application.

“The advantage of applying earlier is that when the results finally come out and the applicants are within the range of what is expected of the school, they will quickly get responses,” he said. Prof Mavima said the new upgraded online application system was very efficient and urged parents to embrace the platform and avoid unnecessary costs and inconveniences of visiting schools.

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education introduced online Form One application last year. According to the ministry, there are only 24 264 boarding places available countrywide against a demand of 364 629 applicants.
