ZRP FOOTBALL Club should brace for a tough encounter when they lock horns with Ngezi Platinum this afternoon at Gwanzura in the Yadah TV Knockout Cup semi-finals.

The police side will be out to maintain their dominance over Ngezi, having beaten them in their last meeting during the league games.

ZRP Football Club coach Thulani Sibanda said Cup games were tricky ties.

“We are preparing as usual. We have got only one injury casualty, Tendai Chinungo. Otherwise our preparations are fine. With a Cup game, anything can happen. It’s just like a money game; people always want to gamble, but you can’t predict whether you are going to win or lose.

“Winning and losing is part of the game, but no coach prepares a team to lose. We always try to win, but you cannot declare before the game. We go in to try and implement the things we do in training and if those things don’t make us win, we go back to the drawing board and correct them,” said Sibanda.

The limelight will be on striker Kasimero Chimbadzwa, who has scored eight goals in the league in October. Chimbadzwa is set to get the Top Goal Scorer of the Month award for a second consecutive month.

He first won the award in September.

However, Sibanda said this was not about an individual, but the whole team.

“It’s not basically one person who is carrying the team. We have other people like Proud Zirembi; he is one fantastic player. We also have a good goalkeeper in Chris Mverechena. It’s not a one-man team, but one with players who have capabilities,” said Sibanda.

Ngezi Platinum coach Clifton Kadurira said he was confident they will make it to the finals.

“For the past four games, we have been using different squads since we were affected by injuries. Now, for this cup game, everyone is fit and we are well prepared,” said Kadurira.

“Every game is a new one. When we played at Morris, we lost, but we corrected those problems and are positive we are going through to the finals.

“You can tell that everyone is ready and as coaches and players we want to achieve something at the end of the season. Everyone wants to, at least, get something to show off at the end of their career.”

The match kicks off at 1pm before the game between Mushowani and Gunners.
