FC Platinum . . . . . . .(0)ZPC Kariba continued with their unbeaten run when they held ambitious FC Platinum in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Gwanzura yesterday.

Despite the platinum miners dictating the pace of the game, they could not find a way past Saul Chaminuka’s side who, however, showed signs of fatigue but managed to keep their visitors at bay throughout the 90 minutes of a game that was also watched by Triangle players.

Triaingle play CAPS United at the National Sports Stadium this afternoon.

FC Platinum came into the game with their heads high after dismissing CAPS United 2-1 at Mandava last week but found ZPC Kariba who managed a 0-0 draw away to Buffaloes last week well prepared. The two sides played cautiously in the opening exchanges with FC Platinum dictating the pace through their skipper, Thabani Kamusoko. The best chance of the opening half fell to Donald Ngoma, who found space after a through pass from Wisdom Mutasa but his effort hit the upright with ZPC Kariba goalkeeper Tendai Hove well beaten.

The platinum miners continued to threaten and it was Mutasa’s time to miss a glorious opportunity after he took his time to shoot at goal after ZPC Kariba defenders were caught at sea. It continued to be a tale of missed chances in the second half .

As FC Platinum upped their attacking tempo following the introduction of Tarisai Rukanda for Stephen Sibanda in the 59th.
The visitors also brought on Allen Gahadzikwa and Nelson Maziwisa for Wisdom Mutasa and Donald Ngoma in the 67th minute but the closest that FC Platinum came to scoring was striking the post twice.

ZPC Kariba coach Chaminuka blamed fatigue for lack of offensive play on his side but said he was still happy with the result.

“I think the boys are suffering from fatigue as they are always on the road. We were in Mutare at the weekend and we returned to Harare for this game we will be on our way to Triangle this coming weekend so the load is too much for us as we are based in Kariba.

“We did not attack as much as we would have loved to but I am happy with the result,”said Chaminuka.
His FC Platinum opposite Lloyd Mutasa was not happy with their failure to score for the first time this season.
