Commander 3.2 Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Anderson Chibvongodze, has applauded the Rusape business community for its unwavering support to the military’s fundraising activities. In an interview on the sidelines of this years’ Rusape District Executives Interaction Initiative, Lt Col Chibvongodze said proceeds from the event would be channelled towards the Zimbabwe National Army’s various charitable activities.

This year’s interaction was attended by several businesspersons from Rusape, members of the community and children, with the major attraction being the fun shoot were members of the public were given the opportunity to use guns.

People were also treated to a variety of food, beverages and snacks.

“The purpose of this event is to allow the army and the business community and selected influential persons of Rusape and members of the community to interact in a non-formal way,” said Lt Col Chibvongodze. “We also create synergies and mutual understanding in a relaxed environment.

“Our relationship with the people of Rusape is very cordial, the attendance here speaks for itself. The Rusape business community has always been forthcoming in working with us and we cherish their support.

“The money and resources we raise from this initiative will be channelled to the National Executive Interaction Initiative, which then distributes it to charitable organisations in the country.”

In Manicaland, Zimbabwe National Army has assisted organisations such as Jairos Jiri, Manhinga Village, Makoni Old People’s Home and Carmelite Sisters’ Children Home.

Rusape District Executive Interaction Initiative chairperson, Mr Christopher Nyambayo, who is also the treasurer of Rusape Residents Trust, said Rusape business community and residents were proud to be associated with the military and they would work hard to maintain the good relationship.

“We work well with the national army and that is why we are all here to support this noble initiative,” he said. “We are grateful to the excellent work that is being done by ZNA in assisting the less privileged members of the society.

“This year’s event has been very successful and we want to make it bigger and better next year.”
