The Zimbabwe National Road Administration (zinara) is hunting for a new chief executive after Engineer Nancy Masiyiwa-Chamisa was fired for alleged gross incompetence and abuse of office.

In a statement, the parastatal said the position exists for the purpose of providing leadership for the overall success of the organisation.

“The position exists to provide leadership for the overall success of the organisation, leading the development and execution of long-term strategies with the goal of increasing shareholder value, ensuring strategy alignment with short-term and long-term government objectives, leading and motivating subordinates to advance employee engagement and high performance work teams,” said zinara.

“Among other duties, the CEO will be responsible for leading the development of high quality business strategies and plans ensuring their alignment with short-term and long-term Government objectives, mobilise resources for road construction, maintenance and rehabilitation.”

zinara said the chief executive will be tasked with ensuring that the organisation maintained high social responsibility wherever it did business, oversees the company’s fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting and auditing.

“The CEO will oversee all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission,’’ said zinara.

The organisation is also hunting for a financial director.

The position fell vacant after the dismissal of Mr Simon Taranhike for alleged abuse of office and gross incompetence.

zinara board chairman Engineer Michael Madanha, who is leading the anti-corruption crusade at the parastatal, confirmed that the organisation was looking for suitable persons to fill the positions.

“Yes, we are looking for suitable candidates to fill the positions,” he said.

“They will have to start work as soon as possible for progress’ sake. But I am glad to say that there is a lot of improvement at the organisation, everything is under control. We are working tirelessly to ensure that we do our mandated duties.”
