Zimswitch has introduced an online payment platform to support local e-commerce in Zimbabwe. The development is coming at an opportune time of festivities where there is growing demand for spending as consumers gear up for travel, gift-giving, and holidays.

The innovative solution offers Zimswitch-enabled cardholders a secure and convenient way to shop online, pay bills, pay fees and other online commerce in both Zimdollar and USD currencies.

Local cardholders can now easily make online payments using their Zimswitch debit cards, with a simple process of entering debit card number, expiry date, security code (CVV) with a one-time password (OTP).

“We are excited to enable businesses to keep pace with latest digital payment trends as we continue to play our key role of modernizing the local payments landscape as the National Payments Switch.  The rollout of Zimswitch online is aimed at promoting an all-inclusive digital economy, simplifying the way consumers transact online through a secure and reliable payment platform,” said Zabron Chilakalaka, Zimswitch chief executive officer.

Consumers and businesses around the world and more closely within Zimbabwe now see and appreciate the value of online shopping. Zimswitch Online presents the best value proposition for merchants in retail, wholesale, medical, tourism, education among other sectors seeking to widen payment options and optimise consumer shopping experience.

“Among the many benefits to merchants and end-users, the new solution also offers e-commerce providers, merchants, gateways, acquirers, and processors a simplified integration through APIs to enable seamless implementation. The user journey is seamless and customers are assured of enhanced security as the solution is designed around the latest 3D technology,” said Michael Chauruka, Zimswitch Head Strategy, Projects and Business Development.

Businesses can sign up for Zimswitch Online through their Banks to expand their digital payments acceptance touchpoints.
